Vol. 195 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick City Garda Station.

75.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has had carried out an inspection of William Street Garda station, Limerick; and, if so, what were the results of this inspection; and what action he intends to take to put the station into a habitable condition.

In reply to a Question on 20th March, I informed the Deputy that it has been decided to replace William Street and John Street stations by a new central station and that work on the preparation of plans for the new premises had commenced.

Since then an inspection has been made of the premises at William Street as a result of which the Commissioner has now recommended that the erection of the new station be given priority and that for the present the use of the existing premises be confined to official purposes.

I have approved of this arrangement.
