asked the Minister for Finance the rate of pay and conditions of work of local employees on the Clogherhead Harbour development scheme at present being carried out by the Office of Public Works in County Louth; if he regards these rates and conditions as fair and comparable to those prevailing in the district; and, if not, if he will amend them.

Labourers employed on the Clogherhead harbour improvement works are paid at the rate of 3s. 1½d. an hour which is equivalent to that paid by the Louth County Council. The application of a five day week as allowed to county council workers cannot be granted.
