asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in broad terms the amount of State assistance given towards mineral development at (1) Avoca (2) Silvermines and (3) each other location in the State which is separately segregated in the records of his Department, specifying such location.

As the information requested by the Deputy involves tabular lists, I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate a statement with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

In broad terms the amount of State assistance given towards mineral development up to 31st May, 1962, is as follows:

Avoca, Co. Wicklow £2,150,000 (This figure does not include £450,000 guaranteed trade loans subsequently repaid nor expenditure on exploration by Mianraí Teoranta.)

Silvermines, Co. Tipperary £180,000

Other locations in respect of which records are available in the Department of Industry and Commerce (Trade Loan Guarantees or Technical Assistance Grants).
