Vol. 196 No. 1

Written Answers. - FCA Infantry Battalions.

143.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will specify the cadre of regular personnel provided in peace establishments for a FCA infantry battalion, stating the rank and appointment of every person borne on the establishment provided.

The information requested by the Deputy is classified as "Restricted". I am, however, making arrangements to notify the Deputy personally of the details requested.

144.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state and particularise the duties and responsibilities of the administrative officer of a FCA battalion, with particular reference to his responsibilities under the following headings: (1) recruitment and recruit training, (2) training, (3) administration and (4) stores.

The duties of an administrative officer with an Infantry Battalion (FCA) are mainly (a) to maintain the service records of personnel in the Battalion and (b) to administer the Unit's stores.

As regards the items specified by the Deputy, the administrative officer normally is not responsible for (1) recruitment and recruit training, or (2) training. He is responsible for (3) administration as regards service records and related documentation and (4) stores. He may, of course, be called on to perform such other duties as may be required from time to time by his Commanding Officer.
