Vol. 196 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Assistance to Firm.

21.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any State grants or loans, through An Foras Tionscal or otherwise, have been either sanctioned or paid to a firm (name supplied); and, if so, if he will give details of any such grants or loans.

No guarantee under the Trade Loan (Guarantee) Acts has been given to this firm nor has any technical assistance grant been paid to it.

In so far as An Foras Tionscal is concerned it is not the practice to disclose information regarding grants made by that body in advance of the publication of this information in the Annual Reports which An Foras are required to submit to me and which are duly laid before each House of the Oireachtas.

Would the Minister say why we have to wait for the report to get that information?

It is a matter of practice.

Would the Minister not consider giving us this information before the publication of the report?

The report will be published next week.
