Vol. 196 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Harbour Improvements.

34.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the amount of the grant from his Department for proposed schemes of harbour improvement in the present year in respect of each of the following ports: Dundalk, Wexford, Galway, New Ross, Limerick and Waterford.

A grant of the full cost of the work, subject to a maximum of £340,000 was authorised in 1961 for a scheme of harbour improvements at Galway. The Harbour Commissioners were recently authorised to invite tenders for the work.

A scheme of dock deepening etc. at Limerick, for which a grant up to a maximum of £79,000 was authorised in 1955, is still in progress. A balance of £32,572 remains unexpended to date from this grant.

I have not at present any applications before me in respect of the other harbours referred to by the Deputy.
