The North Mayo constituency comprises nine whole dispensary districts and part of four other dispensary districts. The statistics kept by the Mayo County Council relate to such districts as a whole and the council are not in a position to furnish completely accurate information regarding medical cards in the portions of the four dispensary districts which are partly within, and partly outside, the constituency. I am assured, however, that the following figures are substantially accurate.
On the 31st March, 1962, the latest date for which the information is available, about 7,200 general medical services cards were held by persons resident in the North Mayo constituency; these cards covered approximately 27,700 persons, that is, holders and dependants.
