andMr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance (a) what procedure is adopted for the employment of labour on the Moy Drainage Scheme; (b) if he will state the number recruited through (i) the employment exchange and (ii) other channels; and (c) if he will endeavour to have local labour recruited from the immediately surrounding district in which the work will be in progress.

(a) Recruitment of labour for the Moy drainage scheme is through the local employment exchange except that certain skilled men may be transferred from other works carried out by the Office of Public Works.

(b) The number at present employed (i) recruited through the local employment exchange is 433 and (ii) recruited through other channels is 78.

(c) It is standard practice to recruit labourers, in so far as they are available, from the district immediately surrounding the site of works.
