Vol. 196 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Trunk Telephone Service.

34.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that there is grave dissatisfaction with the direct dialling telephone trunk services out of Waterford City; and, if so, what action he proposes to take to remedy the matter.

I am aware that there has been difficulty during busy periods in dialling out calls from Waterford. This has been due mainly to insufficiency of outlets to carry very heavy traffic. Eleven additional lines have recently been provided which, I understand, have improved the position. Additional lines will be provided later in the year which should eliminate the difficulty.
