asked the Minister for Lands the reason why there was only one migrant taken from County Sligo inside the last five years; why there was only one resettlement in the county in the same period; and if he will ensure that County Sligo will get better consideration in respect of migration in future.

Migration should not be construed as the sole index of land settlement activity in County Sligo in the period referred to. During the past five years, an aggregate area of 4,500 acres was distributed in the county amongst some 450 allottees while a total of more than £75,000 was expended on estate improvement works.
The various factors governing decisions affecting migration were set out in my reply to the Deputy's previous question on 30th May last.
As I have already stated, however, further migrations from County Sligo will be effected according as circumstances permit.
