The latest year for which final figures in relation to income tax are available is 1960-61. For that year the total number of persons effectively liable to income tax under PAYE was approximately 145,000.
Some 220 persons are having their surtax for 1961-62 deducted from their emoluments under Pay-As-You-Earn.
