Vol. 198 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Redundant Workers.

29.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether it is intended to declare redundant employees at Inchicore and Broadstone CIE Transport Depots, Dublin; if so, why; and how many are involved.

I am informed by CIE that the continuing reorganisation of the undertaking so as to secure greater efficiency and productivity may give rise to further redundancy in the Board's works at Broadstone and Inchicore but it is not possible at this stage to say how many may be affected.

Has the Minister any idea when he will be in a position to say how many are likely to be redundant?

I have no idea.

Will it be a matter of a month, six months or a year?

I could not say. I do not think there will be any change immediately.
