Vol. 198 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Voting by Blind Persons.

51.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is prepared to amend voting regulations and bring them in line with those in Great Britain, so that blind voters will not have to vote openly.

A blind voter does not have to vote openly. Under the Electoral Act, 1960, a blind voter may have his ballot paper marked by a companion as an alternative to having it marked by the presiding officer in the presence of the agents of the candidates.
