Vol. 198 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC: Irish Negotiating Mission.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if in view of the fact that Ireland has not yet commenced to negotiate with the EEC for entry into the Common Market he has selected the personnel of the mission to represent Ireland in these negotiations; and, if so, if he will give their names.

The answer is in the negative.

Before the House rises, the Taoiseach should tell the House——

Is this a question?

Would the Deputy put his question, please?

I will put the question that the Taoiseach should answer. Will the Taoiseach tell us who will be the mission that will negotiate for the Irish people? We would prefer to be told in the House rather than through some after-dinner speech or some chamber of commerce meeting or at Bonn. Now that the House is about to rise for the Christmas recess, the Taoiseach should tell us.

The Deputy is making a statement, not asking a question.

May we take it that the Minister for Agriculture will not at any time be excluded from the negotiations?

That is a separate question.

Will it be at ministerial level?

We do not know. They have not got a clue.
