Vol. 199 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Schools.

23.

asked the Minister for Education if anything has been done to repair the national school at Ballintogher, County Sligo; and if Kilross national school, Bally-gawley, County Sligo, will be put into fit condition for children to attend.

Sketch plans for a new school to replace the existing Ballintogher national school have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. A grant will be sanctioned towards the cost of its erection when satisfactory evidence of title to the school site has been received.

My Department is awaiting a report from the Commissioners of Public Works on the question of carrying out certain improvements at Kilross national school. The matter will be examined on receipt of their report.

Would the Minister state when repairs will be carried out to Kilross national school, pending the erection of a new school? This matter has been going on for a long time. The school is in a desperate condition.

The Commissioners of Public Works expect to be in a position to examine the school at the end of this month and the repairs will be carried out when they have prepared a plan.
