Vol. 199 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gárda Pay Claim.

44.

asked the Minister for Justice whether a claim for increase in pay for members of the Garda Síochána is at present under examination in his Department; and when a decision may be expected.

A claim for an increase in pay on behalf of Chief Superintendents and Superintendents was considered at a meeting of the Garda Síochána Conciliation Council on the 30th October, 1962, when disagreement was recorded. It is open to the Garda Side to request that the claim be referred to arbitration.

Claims for pay increases on behalf of the lower ranks were received on 10th and 16th of this month and will be considered by the Conciliation Council at an early date.
