Vol. 199 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Sheep Losses.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider making financial compensation to the sheep owners on the foothills of the Galtees and Knockmealdown mountains to help them to get over the severe losses they suffered during the recent snowstorms.

As announced by the Taoiseach in this House on 22nd January, if further reports indicate that serious losses have occurred, a scheme of interest-free loans will be introduced. I may add that the reports received by me do not indicate that there have been severe losses in livestock in any area up to now.
