Vol. 200 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Market Sales of Shannon Airport Industrial Goods.

40.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any industrial manufacturing company operating at Shannon Airport has been given any permission or concession to manufacture for sale on the home market; and, if so, if he will state the nature and extent of these arrangements.

Four firms which are engaged in manufacturing operations at Shannon Airport are authorised to sell on the domestic market. The products concerned are pianos, industrial floor maintenance and cleaning machines, electric fans, certain wire gauze and mesh, electrical connectors, potentiometers and coaxial cables. When considering applications by firms established at Shannon Airport for permission to sell on the home market, due regard is had to the extent to which manufacturing concerns established outside the Airport are catering for the requirements of the domestic market.
