asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details from June, 1962 to date of employment on roads and bridges, in expansion of a reply of 19th July, 1962.

Numbers employed monthly on road and bridge works by each county council from September, 1962 to January, 1963 inclusive are set out in the following table:—

NOTE 1. —The figures for the Months of June, July and August were given in reply to a previous Question by the Deputy (No. 269 of 30th October, 1962).

NOTE 2. —The figures do not include employment on road schemes financed with the aid of grants from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote.

NOTE 3. —The Mayo figures include a large number of farmers who hold small maintenance contracts with the county council.

NOTE 4. —January 1963 is the latest date for which complete details are available.
