Vol. 200 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Unemployment Assistance Applicants.

27.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether, in view of the fact that certain applicants for unemployment assistance in the Duagh parish, County Kerry have to travel distances of up to seven and a half miles to have evidence of unemployment certified at Listowel Garda Station, whereas the signing regulations envisage six miles as the maximum distance to be travelled to sign at a local office, he will again consider the possibility of establishing a local signing centre at Duagh village.

I am having the position of unemployed persons in the Duagh area, County Kerry further examined to see whether a change is called for in the existing arrangements for certifying evidence of unemployment in their case. I will have the Deputy informed of the result of this examination.
