Vol. 201 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-war Credits.

14.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will make representations to the British Government to have conditions relating to the realisation of post-war credits, which obtain in Britain and Northern Ireland, applicable to holders of such credits now residing in the Republic; and if he will request particularly that such persons who suffer lengthy periods of illness or unemployment should be enabled to cash their credits on the same conditions as they are now permitted to do outside this country.

Since April, 1960, there have been certain improvements in the conditions of repayment of British post-war credits to persons resident in Ireland. Our Embassy in London has been instructed to endeavour to secure equivalent conditions of repayment to all categories of claimants whether they reside in Ireland or in Great Britain.
