Vol. 201 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Mayo Estates.

43.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have completed their investigations regarding the allocation of the Rowlette Estate, Fahey, Killala, Ballina, County Mayo; if so, if he will indicate to how many tenants it is proposed to give additions of land on this Estate; and, if this information is not available, when it is hoped to have it available.

44.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have completed their investigations regarding the allocation of the Cosgrave Estate at Killala, County Mayo; if so, if he will indicate to how many tenants it is proposed to give additions of land on this Estate; and, if this information is not available, when it is hoped to have it available.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

The inquiries necessary in connection with the disposal of these two estates, aggregating some 380 acres, have concluded and resale proposals are being formulated. The selection of allottees is, of course, solely a matter for the Land Commissioners and I cannot anticipate their decision in the case of these or any other lands. I understand, however, that it is hoped to allocate the properties in question this year, if at all possible.
