The total number of milch cows in the State in June, 1962, was 1,309,300. It is estimated that of these some 972,000 were Shorthorns and 124,700 were Friesians. These figures do not include heifers in calf which numbered 141,600 in June, 1962, and for which separate figures by breed are not available.
