Vol. 202 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Electric Motors.

47.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of electric motors of Six County manufacture which have been imported under tariff concession since the concession was granted to firms in Northern Ireland, the number of firms in Northern Ireland to whom such concessions have been granted, and the basis on which they were granted.

The number of electric motors of Six County manufacture imported under tariff concession since the concession was granted is 103. The arrangement is confined to motors manufactured by firms established and bona fide owned in the Six Counties and the volume of imports is limited to the level of imports from such firms before the imposition of import duties on these motors in 1958. At the present time, one firm in the Six Counties is availing itself of the tariff concession.
