asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the proposal for the erection of a new national school at Corclough West, Belmullet, County Mayo.

The Commissioners of Public Works will prepare working drawings for the new school at Corclough West when a water supply has been made available. They are, I understand, at present in communication with the Manager in the matter.

asked the Minister for Education the position regarding proposals for the erection of new national schools at (a) Doohoma, (b) Rossport, (c) Carratighe, (d) Ballymunnelly, and (e) Elly Bay, Ballina, County Mayo.

The Commissioners of Public Works hope to be in a position to inspect the site for a new school at Doohoma during the next few weeks.

Working drawings for the new Rossport national school are being prepared by the Commissioners.

The Reverend Manager of Carratighe national school has been unable to furnish evidence of title to the proposed new school site or to obtain a suitable alternative site. It is now proposed to enlarge and improve the existing school, provided that a suitable extension to the site can be obtained.

My Department will sanction a grant towards the cost of the erection of the proposed new Ballymunnelly national school as soon as the necessary title documents to the school site have been received.

In the case of Elly Bay, it has been decided to provide a permanent transport service to convey the children to the nearest national schools as an alternative to the provision of a new school.
