Vol. 203 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardrahan (Galway) Dispensary District.

1.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Taoiseach how many applications were before the Local Appointments Commission for the post of medical officer for the Ardrahan Dispensary District, County Galway.

The last competition conducted by the Local Appointments Commissioners for this post was held in November, 1956. Twenty applications were received.

2.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Taoiseach whether the population of Ardrahan Dispensary District has declined since October, 1962; and if he will indicate the present population of the district.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available. Population figures in respect of individual dispensary districts are available only in respect of the dates on which a census of population is taken. The most recent census was taken on the night of 9th April, 1961, and the population of Ardrahan dispensary district at that time was 2,191 persons.

Mr. Donnellan

What was the previous figure?

The Deputy did not ask that question.

But the Parliamentary Secretary could tell him.

What was the figure in 1956?

I have not got the figure for the previous year.
