Vol. 203 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Telephone Installations.

47.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the installation of the new main telephone circuits supplying the Wexford area will enable him to install telephones on request at an accelerated rate; and, if so, when the present backlog of applications will be cleared.

The provision of telephones for new applicants will not be affected by the completion of current trunking schemes in County Wexford. It is hoped to provide service for the majority of waiting applicants in the county within the next six months.

Will the new trunking scheme mean a better service for those who have telephones at the present time?

It will, certainly. That is why it is being done.

It will not be like the Drogheda one?

The Drogheda one is all right. When the new outlets are in, it will be all right.
