Schemes for increasing the number of trunk circuits on most of the principal routes from Dublin have been completed or are nearing completion. The increases on the longer routes are

Substantial increases in circuits on numerous provincial routes, congestion on which may affect the service at Dublin exchange, are also being provided. Upwards of 60 trunk schemes to the value of over £2,000,000 involving the erection of cables or radio links have been approved and, in addition, carrier equipment value £500,000 to increase the number of circuits on a large number of routes is ordered. Numerous further main trunk schemes are being planned and will be installed as rapidly as possible. Circuiting on some hundreds of minor routes is being improved.
