Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - American Magazine Article.

69.

asked the Minister for Justice if he was recently interviewed by representatives of an American magazine; and if the views, as published in the issue of the magazine dated July 12th, 1963, and attributed to him on film censorship, that cinematic sex has become so much sexier and more frequent that censors have been told to go easy with the scissors, or else cinemas might not get any films at all, represent fairly what he told these reporters.

As I have already announced, I did not make the statement attributed to me in the article referred to.

They did not represent your views, anyway.

In view of the fact that the Taoiseach in an earlier reply stated that, where his statement appeared in quotation marks in Time magazine, it was accurate, how is it that what has appeared in quotation form, reported as being said by the Minister for Justice, is now found to be inaccurate?

Not alone did I not make the statement referred to but, in fact, I had almost immediately on the publication of the issue of the magazine in this country a very generous letter from the correspondent in question apologising for the attribution of these views to me erroneously.

There seem to be an awful lot of inaccuracies in this article.
