asked the Minister for Agriculture the amount in tons, the cost, and the countries of origin of (1) pollard and (2) other feeding stuffs imported into this country from 1st January, 1963, to the latest available dates; whether analyses of each consignment were made; and, if so, the results in each case.

An analysis was not made of each consignment of pollard and other feeding stuffs imported in the period from 1st January, 1963. 72 samples of imported pollard analysed since 1st January, 1963, had an average of 16.8 per cent crude protein; 4 per cent oil and 7.9 per cent fibre. The analysis of the various protein feeding stuffs is normally furnished to purchasers at time of sale and samples are taken from time to time at the premises of the sellers.
As the particulars sought regarding quantity, cost and source of imports of pollard and other feeding stuffs are in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.
Particulars of imports of pollard and certain other animal feeding stuffs (January-August, 1963) are given in the attached table.
