asked the Taoiseach the number of persons at present employed in the Government Information Bureau; the date and method of entry to the Civil Service of each such person; and what salary scale is paid to persons employed in the Bureau who have not entered the Civil Service through the normal channels.

The Government Information Bureau has a staff of six persons. Five of these entered the Civil Service, through open competitions, on the following dates, namely, the 24th September, 1926, the 26th February, 1949, the 22nd January, 1962 and, in the case of two officers, 24th September, 1962.

The sixth entered the Civil Service on 23rd June, 1951, under the authority of an Order pursuant to Section 10 of the Civil Service Regulation Act, 1924, and, having subsequently resigned, reentered on 27th March, 1957, under the authority of an Order pursuant to Section 5 of the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956. His salary scale is £1,975 by £65 to £2,335.
