Vol. 207 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curraghmore (Galway) Bridge.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to sanction the erection of a new bridge at Curraghmore on the Galway-Headford Road.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received an application from Galway County Council for a grant for the building of a new bridge at Curraghmore on the Galway-Headford road; if so, what is the present position; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 32 and 33 together. I have received preliminary proposals from Galway County Council for the reconstruction of Curraghmore bridge. A decision in principle on these proposals and on the application for a special grant towards the cost of the scheme will be conveyed to the county council as soon as the current examination of the consultant's proposals is completed in my Department. It is hoped that this stage will be reached at an early date.

Can the Minister indicate how long that is on his desk?

I can indicate it is not yet on my desk.

I am told it is.

I say it is not and I should know.
