Vol. 207 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Easter Rising Commemoration Stamp.

45.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the extensive research and on-the-spot inspections carried out on the plants and processes used by a large number of foreign postal administrations, he will intimate if it might be possible to issue a new series of postage stamps of improved and more colourful design to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Easter rising of 1916, each to be of seven different denominations paying tribute to one of the seven signatories to the Proclamation of the Republic.

I am not in a position to give the intimation desired by the Deputy. I shall, however, pass on his suggestion to the Stamp Design Advisory Committee which is considering themes for the proposed new permanent series of postage stamps.
