Vol. 207 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Garda Station.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the great need for general repairs and renovation of the Eglington Street Garda station, Galway; what steps he proposes to take in the matter; and when he hopes to carry out the work.

I am advised that the maintenance of this station receives regular attention. At present the laying of new linoleum in rooms and corridors is in progress, while a contract was recently placed for external painting, waterproofing of some of the walls, and part internal painting. The cost of all this work is about £950.

The possibility of improving the layout of the accommodation in the building is about to be examined in consultation with the Garda authorities, but at this stage it is not possible to indicate what may be involved or how soon an improvement scheme could be put in hands.
