Vol. 207 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Married Women Vocational Teachers.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the shortage of suitably qualified teachers for employment in vocational schools as pointed out by the deputation to his Department on the 14th November last, he will now consider the employment of suitably qualified married women teachers on a permanent basis.

The Deputy should not infer that because I heard a deputation in relation to the recruitment of teachers for vocational schools the deputation either advocated the re-employment of married women teachers or adverted in any way to such a step being taken.

There could, therefore, be no question of my considering the matter now outside of the general context of the future arrangements for the recruitment of teachers.

Question No. 39 postponed.
