Vol. 207 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aliens Office.

59.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice whether it is proposed to provide a more presentable and convenient Aliens Office than that now provided at Dublin Castle; and, if so, when.

The provision of alternative accommodation for this Office is under consideration in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works. I am not in a position at this stage to say when the alternative accommodation will be available.

If the Minister is very anxious to have supplementary questions——

No, just from Deputy Ryan.

Merely from those who put down the questions.

In view of the influx of aliens who are purchasing Irish lands, would the Minister provide an Aliens Office convenient to the Land Commission?

The Deputy is returning good for evil.

The Minister could not deprive Deputy Ryan of his main source of income from acting for these.

Where is Deputy Ryan, anyway?

He is over with an alien in my office.

Where are the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce? I suppose the Minister for Industry and Commerce is writing more letters in Cork.

I am sure the Deputy will agree that Deputy Ryan is never here to deal with his questions.

We are not discussing Deputy Ryan.

I am always anxious to deal with these questions fully.

He will be in this House but the Minister will not be in that seat.
