Vol. 208 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Ownership of Dwellings.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if he will bring up to date the information supplied, in relation to the contribution to national income by the ownership of dwellings, in a reply of 13th December, 1960.

The estimated expenditure at constant 1953 prices on gross rent of dwellings including the imputed rent of owner-occupied dwellings as well as rates, repairs and maintenance and depreciation of all dwellings in each of the years 1953 to 1962 was:

Year

19.9

1955

20.6

1956

21.3

It is expected that these figures will be revised on the basis of the 1961 Census results when the next issue of National Income and Expenditure is being prepared.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say why the figures he has given for most of the years from 1953 to 1959 differ from the figures given on 13th December, 1960? There could not be a revision as far back as that.

The Deputy had better give notice of that question.

I referred to the question and the Government should know what they are talking about.

These figures are subject to revision also.

Surely 1953 had been revised by 1960 and yet for the very first year the figures are different from the 1960 figures, from volume 185, No. 7?
