Vol. 208 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Place Building Work.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in regard to the present building work being carried out adjacent to Leinster House in Kildare Place the reason why the portion of the high wall on the southern side of the gateway entrance is being carried out in concrete, whereas the portion on the other side of the gateway was carried out in brick; and whether, in view of the ugly appearance from the Kildare Place side of the contrast between these two materials, it is intended to face the concrete portion of the wall with brick-work or to take any other steps to improve its appearance.

The wall in question constitutes part of the new Central Heating Station. When completed, it will be similar in every respect to the wall already erected on the northern side of Kildare Place.
