NOTE 1. The figures show the numbers employed by direct labour on road and bridge works and include numbers engaged on contract works.

NOTE 2. The figures do not include employment on road schemes financed with the aid of grants from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote.

NOTE 3. The Mayo figures include a large number of small-scale maintenance contractors.
