The volume of trunk works in progress and planned in this district has made it necessary to divert engineering staff from the installation of subscribers' telephones at all exchanges. It is not the case, however, that urgent trunk works are necessary in every exchange area in which the connection of new telephones has been halted.
Priority applications are being connected without delay all over the country. It would not be possible, however, to indicate when sufficient progress will have been made with trunk works to enable a clearance of non-priority applications to be made in individual exchange areas.
