Vol. 208 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schools Fire Prevention Lectures.

50.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make the necessary provision so that lectures on fire drill and fire prevention will be given in national, secondary and vocational schools by fire officers.

This would be a matter for the conductors of the schools concerned. Managers of national and secondary schools and vocational education committees have already ample authority to enable them to arrange for such lectures, if they so desire.

Would the Minister make grants available?

I doubt if grants would be necessary for lectures from officials of fire authorities.

If they were necessary, would the Minister make them available?

I never deal with a hypothetical situation.
