Vol. 209 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Duff River Drainage.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that many farmers have complained about the way drainage work was carried out on the Duff River; and that many acres of meadow land have been left useless, owing to the amount of clay that has been piled all over those meadows; and what action he proposes to take to remedy the matter.

A small number of complaints has been received about the way in which drainage work is being carried out on the Duff river. These will be investigated. The deposition of spoil on the river banks is unavoidable in the execution of arterial drainage works. On the Duff scheme as on others, great care is being taken to keep interference with the riparian lands to a minimum.
