Vol. 209 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardrahan (Galway) Dispensary District.

3.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Minister for Health if he has yet come to a decision as regards the restoration of the Ardrahan Dispensary District, as requested by the Galway County Council by a two-thirds majority; and, if not, when he expects such a decision.

I made an Order abolishing Ardrahan dispensary district on 17th April, 1963, following receipt and full consideration of proposals to this effect received from Galway County Council which had been unanimously approved by the council at its meeting of 19th October, 1962. My decision was taken after full deliberation and is not one which I could lightly set aside.

I considered the matter fully again when I received the resolution passed by Galway County Council on 25th January, 1964, requesting me to revoke the Order. As a result of this reconsideration, I am satisfied that the case for the abolition of Ardrahan dispensary district was sound and reasonable and that my previous decision in the matter should stand. I propose to inform the Galway County Council accordingly.

Mr. Donnellan

It will be poor information for them.
