asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position with regard to the holding of driving tests outside the Dublin area; whether any tests are given outside Dublin; if so, at what centres; in what centres it is intended to have driving tests held in the future; and when such tests will be started in each centre.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Driving Tests.
Some driving tests have already been held outside Dublin city and arrangements are in train for holding other tests in cases where applications have been made.
For the purposes of holding driving tests, a number of towns throughout the country have been selected as test centres. A person undergoing the test applies to the Department and nominates the centre at which he wishes to be tested. The Department arranges for the holding of the test at that centre and advises the person concerned of the date and time for his test.
The test centres number 42 and are set out in a statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I will circulate with the Official Report. No significant additions to the number of centres is presently proposed.
