Vol. 211 No. 7

Control of Manufactures Bill, 1964— First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend the Control of Manufactures Acts 1932 and 1934, and to repeal prospectively those Acts and the Industrial Development (Encouragement of External Investment) Act, 1958.—(Minister for Industry and Commerce.)

Can the Minister state whether the word "prospectively" is the right word?

Yes. The Act will be passed in advance of the date of the actual repeal.

Is that not often done, without the word "prospectively"?

I am in the hands of the draftsman for that title.

When does the Minister hope to circulate the Bill?

During the recess

Second Stage ordered for Tuesday, 3rd November, 1964.
