asked the Minister for Education (a) if he will state in respect of each of the years 1948 to 1963 the number of honours graduates graduating with first or second class honours in arts and science and having mathematics or mathematical physics as major subjects in their degree in each of the university colleges of Dublin, Cork and Galway, in St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, and in Trinity College, Dublin, (b) the total number of such graduates over the period, (c) the total number of such graduates in the period now employed as registered secondary teachers in the Republic, and (d) if he will give such information as may be available to him as regards the present employment within the State of such graduates, not at present employed as registered secondary teachers, (i) as civil servants, (ii) as university teachers, (iii) in vocational teaching and (iv) in commerce or industry, and (e) if he will give any information that may be available to him regarding the present employment of such graduates outside the State.

Such information relating to this question as is readily obtainable is given hereunder. The remaining information requested, where it is available, could be assembled only by the expenditure of an inordinate amount of time and labour.
