Vol. 213 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathfarnham (Dublin) Lands.

20.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the widespread desire that the lands of Rathfarnham Golf Course, County Dublin be retained as an open space and that building of any kind thereon be prohibited; whether the Dublin County Council or the Dublin Corporation have consulted his Department in the matter; if so, if he will state the nature of such consultations; and whether either body has any proposals in the matter.

I am not so aware. Neither the county council nor Dublin Corporation have consulted my Department in the matter or submitted proposals. I understand, however, that it is the view of the county council as planning authority that in any development of the lands about 20 acres should be reserved for public buildings and open space and that reservation should also be made for a riverside walk and road development.
