Vol. 213 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Executive Officers.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance how many executive officers were qualified as a result of the interview held on the results of the Leaving Certificate this year; how many have been called; and what was the actual place on the panel of the candidate who was last called.

Candidates at the open executive officer competition are not interviewed. They are selected on the basis of the aggregate marks scored by them in certain subjects of the Leaving Certificate examination and in a written examination in general information conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners.

The number of candidates who qualified in 1964 was 687. Candidates up to and including 257th place in the order of merit have been called. 63 of these have, so far, been assigned for appointment and 12 are still under consideration by the Civil Service Commissioners; the others declined the offer of appointment.
