Vol. 216 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Antibiotics in Milk.

45.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will take steps to warn all milk producers about the danger to health arising from the use of milk from cows recently treated with antibiotics.

My Department has already taken steps through the advisory services, leaflets, and other information media, to ensure that prudence is exercised by farmers in the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry. In particular, they have been advised that milk from cows which have been treated with antibiotics should not be sold for at least three days after the final treatment.
