asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of each of the years 1962-63 to date (a) the amount collected under PAYE, (b) the number of employers who had liable employees, (c) the number of employees from whom tax was deducted, and (d) the approximate number of employees earning over £6 a week whose tax allowance exceeded their pay.

The information requested in parts (a), (b) and (c) of the question is given in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report. The table refers to the years 1962-63 and 1963-64; the figures for 1964-65 are not yet available.

Statistics are not compiled in such a way as to enable a reply to be given to part (d) of the question.
